Area Senior Citizens invited to Celebrate at the 3rd Annual Senior Prom
Area seniors are cordially invited to enjoy lunch and an afternoon of dancing at the 3rd annual Senior Prom from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm on Wednesday, May 9th at the Butcher’s Block, 499 West Fountain Road, Joplin.
Doors will open at 11:30 am sharp, with lunch being served at noon. Ben Woolery Dance Music Company will provide the entertainment. Any attire is welcome, but semi-formal wear is encouraged. The theme of this year’s dance will be Celebrate!
Tickets are only $7.50 each and can be purchased at Mercy Prestige, Freeman Advantage, or at the Area Agency on Aging office at 531 E. 15th Street. There are a limited number of seats available.
The event is being sponsored by Access Home Health Agency, Adelmo Family Care, Area Agency on Aging, Avalon Hospice, Freeman Advantage, Mercy Prestige, Silver Creek and the Arbors, and Southwest Missouri Bank.
Area Agency on Aging Warming Up for 4th Annual Zumbathon
The Area Agency on Aging is gearing up for its 4th Annual Zumbathon which is being planned for Saturday, June 23rd from 9 am to noon at Joplin Family Y South, 3404 McIntosh Circle, Joplin.
All proceeds will benefit the Home delivered meal programs in Jasper, Newton, Barton and McDonald Counties.
There will be a $10 entry fee and all donations are 100% tax deductible. There will also be t-shirts given to the first 50 entries. Registration packets can be picked up at the Area Agency on Aging Region X office in Joplin, both Joplin Family Y locations, Carthage Family Y, and Neosho Family Y. Packets can also be picked up at any of the AAAX’s senior centers located in Joplin, Carthage, Webb City, Noel, Lamar, and Carl Junction.
The Area Agency on Aging Region X delivers approximately 15,000 meals per month in the four county areas it serves. In many situations, the person delivering meals is the only person they see face to face. The service also provides the opportunity to do a well-being check on the individual as well as keeping many individuals out of nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
